Bulli Park Trail

Flow by the Sea

Brief

The Bulli Park Bike Track project was initiated to provide a safe, purpose-built alternative to the environmentally damaging informal trails being created in surrounding bushland. The new facility consists of a jump/downhill line and a small pump track, designed specifically for children and young riders to develop skills in a fun, progressive, and sustainable environment.

The project applied sustainable trail design principles to minimise erosion and environmental impact, while making use of the park’s existing landscape and vegetation. Community engagement was central to the process, with feedback incorporated into the concept design and information sessions held to build local ownership of the project.

The result is a community-driven recreational asset that promotes outdoor activity, youth participation, and long-term stewardship of the park environment.

DESIGN

The design process for the Bulli Park Flow/Jump Track combined advanced technology with strong community involvement.

  • Digital Ground Modelling – A LiDAR-derived ground model was used to assess terrain and guide the alignment of both the roller track and jump line.

  • 3D Visualisation – Detailed 3D models and a video game simulation were developed, allowing stakeholders and community members to virtually experience the proposed track before construction.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – These visual tools were presented at community forums to gather input, ensure the design met user expectations, and build confidence in the project.

  • Environmental Integration – The design carefully avoided root damage to significant trees, included erosion control measures, and harmonised with the existing parkland.

End Result:
The completed track is a fun, flowing, and inclusive facility right beside the beach, offering progressive features for kids and young riders. It stands as a showcase of sustainable trail design, innovative modelling, and successful community collaboration.

Construction was delivered by Iconic Trails, whose expertise in trail building brought the design to life on the ground.

"Jack from Advanced CAD was awesome to deal with when undertaking interactive track designs for a local govt project we worked on. Would definitely recommend as the work produced went a long way to illustrate what our project could achieve."
